What is WAG’s Prepayment/cancellation/rescheduling/no show policy?
- WAG requires pre-signing of consent forms and prepayment for all services.
- All payments are non-refundable. We require cancellations to be made no less than 3 business days prior to the appointment. If you cancel the appointment prior to the 3 business days, we will credit your account. If you do not call and not show for your appointment your fee will result in a 50% reduction in fees paid (which will be applied to our Spay it Forward Program), and you will be required to pay that half again to reschedule, at time of rescheduling.
- Prepayments are due no later than 24 hours after your request for a spay or neuter appointment or your appointment will be cancelled, and you will be required to schedule again and prepay.
At what age can I spay/neuter my dog?
Usually 4 months of age. However, for female dogs of large and giant breeds, we recommend waiting until they are closer to 6 months of age. With males of giant breeds, we recommend waiting until closer to 12 months.
What age can kittens be spayed/neutered?
Kittens must be at least 3 pounds in weight and 3 months of age.
Can I spay my cat if she is in heat?
Yes.
Can I spay my dog if she is in heat?
We recommend waiting at least 10 weeks after the conclusion of your dog’s heat cycle to spay. A heat cycle causes the uterus to more than double in size with increased blood flow, leading to a higher risk surgery with more bleeding.
Do all pets go home with additional pain medications?
Yes. They receive 3 day’s worth of medications for dogs and female cats. Male cats receive an oral pain reliever at time of surgery (lasts 8-12 hrs).
Does WAG repair umbilical hernias?
Only if the hernia is reducible during their spay or neuter. We do not repair non-reducible hernias as they are more of a cosmetic concern.
How long is recovery after surgery?
10-14 days of very restricted activity.
Can my pet be vaccinated while at the clinic for spay/neuter?
Yes, pricing for vaccinations, flea treatment and microchipping are available here.
Does my pet have to be spayed/neutered in order to receive vaccinations or other wellness services at WAG?
